June 3 - 5 $0 Palmer Rapids This course will be tailored to the participant's level of comfort and past experience. The course/awesome weekend will be held at Jessop's (@ Palmer Rapids) and will include one day of instruction at Palmer Rapids followed by a day run of the Lower Madawaska. In addition, the course can be made to suit those wishing to work on solo or tandem skills. It will be a great time to catch up with other staff and fall in love with moving water paddling. Course cost includes boats, equipment, lower-mad shuttle, camping. You will need to provide food and transportation (usually a car-pool is arranged). Why take the course?
  • Work towards your Moving Water Certifications (MW2/MW3, Moving Water Instructor)

Coastal Kayak Level 2

June 13 - 15 $175 Gould Lake / Kingston Area This skills course is a natural progression for staff that have completed GLOC SOCK and is a pre-requisite for the instructor level course. Bigger water, advanced rescues, rolling, advanced navigation are all part of this skills course. Course cost includes ORKCA fee, boats, equipment, shuttles, camping. You will need to provide food and transportation (usually a car-pool is arranged). Why take the course?
  • Prepares you to lead OS Georgian Bay and KIC
  • Increases your kayaking comfort level
  • Certification - Prerequisite to instructor level course

June 13 - 19 $400 Gould Lake / Kingston Area This course is designed for staff who have previously taken or are going to take (this spring) the Coastal Kayak Level 2 course. Course cost includes $85 ORKCA fee, boats, equipment, camping and food. You will need to provide transportation (usually a car-pool is arranged). Why take the course?
  • Further prepares you to lead OS Georgian Bay and KIC
  • Further increases your kayaking comfort level
  • Certification which allows you to certify OS/KIC students
  • Night Nav
  • You get to assist in teaching GLOC SOCK / influence the next generation of Gould Lake staff - who doesn't want that on their resume
